Black and Minority Ethnic employee network

Our Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) network group provides an open supportive forum to support workers going through work related issues as well as the chance to network and make new work friends along the way! The network encourages discussing cultural topics, sharing practices as well as knowledge and help to understand each other unique experiences and backgrounds.

Anyone can join the network. We are most welcoming and stand out for those who aren't treated fairly, providing peer to peer support. We work with our colleagues to review and monitor our policies and practice and together challenge and take action to improve Derbyshire County Council as a fair and equal opportunities employer.

Our quarterly meetings provide a secure and confidential forum discussing issues relating to BME employees.

Meeting are held online via MS Teams or in person trying to hold meetings at different locations across the county to ensure everyone has the opportunity to attend.

We'd like to hear from you if you work for us and want to be involved. To receive information about when meetings are taking place or to be added to our mailing list and the Teams channel please email: bme@derbyshire.gov.uk

For more information about joining the network or attending meetings you can contact the network co-chairs, Hetal Acharya, email hetal.acharya@derbyshire.gov.uk or Shaz Choudhury, email shaz.choudhury@derbyshire.gov.uk.
