Big Assembly event 2023

We were delighted to be invited to take part in the Big Assembly event, which took place at the National Stone Centre in Wirksworth.

The Big Assembly is a live assembly broadcast and this year attracted over 140,000 people across the UK to learn all about apprenticeships from a variety of different perspectives, including former and current apprentices, employers of apprentices, parents, education providers, and much more.

Watch the Big Assembly video.

Three of our employees who previously completed an apprenticeship were invited to attend and were interviewed about their apprenticeship experiences on the day. Here is the feedback from those apprentices who attended.

What did you enjoy most about taking part in the Big Assembly event?

What I enjoyed most about the Big Assembly was seeing the content and advertisement for apprenticeships from the outside, after already going through the process and getting to talk about my own experience.

What was the key thing you took away from the event which you can share with others?

A key thing I took away was just how broad the variety of different apprentices are available for people to undertake.

What did you learn from other apprentices / employers taking part which could support you with your own development?

One thing I learnt from other apprentices/employers is that there are plenty of opportunities out there to help further development, be it from learning or simply speaking to others about how they personally developed.

What advice would you give to other apprentices if they wanted to take part next year in this event or similar events promoting Apprenticeships?

My advice would be to take part & try not to be nervous. It’s an event for advertising and talking about apprenticeships, so it may seem daunting to get interviewed or go on stage and talk, but everyone is there to listen to your experiences. It allows you to express them almost like talking to a friend with not being put on the spot or under any pressure.

What did you enjoy most about taking part in the Big Assembly event?

I found attending the Big Assembly event interesting. I got to see the variety of apprenticeships offered and listen to the stories of those who have completed them. Although I have already completed an apprenticeship, it really solidified and inspired me for my future plan to apply for the social worker apprenticeship, as I feel confident this would definitely be the right step to further my career.

What advice would you give to other apprentices if they wanted to take part next year in this event or similar events promoting Apprenticeships?

My advice to those wanting to take part in next years event or something similar is just to try your hardest to get the most out of the apprenticeship and take any opportunities to showcase your interest.
