Taking ownership and responsibility for your learning
Learning and development is not just our responsibility, you need to make your own decisions about the learning and development.
The following points will help the learning process for the managers and staff.
Management
Taking ownership and responsibility for your learning by:
- clarifying to your staff that being proactive about learning and development opportunities is their responsibility, and role of the manager is to facilitate and support this where aspirations are appropriate and realistic
- listening and working with employees to agree learning and development needs
- communicating - talk to each other, share views and ideas either in person, email or group discussions
- support staff to be clear on the knowledge and skills they need to improve, to do their job better
- use PDRs to set out a learning programme and identify key areas for development
Staff
Take ownership and responsibility for your learning by:
