Succession planning and talent review

We are supporting succession planning across departments in priority areas.

Succession planning is the process of identifying business critical positions in the council and creating a talent pipeline, by preparing individuals to fill these roles should they become vacant. It involves identifying and developing potential future leaders or senior managers, as well as individuals who could fill other business critical roles in the short, medium and long-term.

The talent review is a structured process where leaders come together as a collective to calibrate individuals' performance and potential ratings established during the performance and development review (PDR). It provides a mechanism to ensure a consistent approach across divisions and departments and will result in the identification of the council's high potential leaders and succession plans for business critical roles.
