Active Wellbeing Walking Challenge – 19 May to 31 May 2025

25 April 2025

From 19 to 31 May you can take part in a fun, fitness, and friendly competition!

The CSSC is running its Active Wellbeing Around the UK Walking Challenge next month.

In teams of up to 10 people, you will compete against other teams to see how far you can travel around the UK in 2 weeks by logging your daily walking activity. You can convert other sports or activities like swimming and cycling to step counts too.

Register an account

First of all you need to register an account. Visit the challenge website or use the Big Team Challenge app which is available for iOS and Android.

Enter 'cssc.bigteamchallenge.com' when asked to on the first screen. From here you will be able to register your account or sign in with your existing one. Remember to complete all registration questions.

On the app you may see this message ‘You’ve completed your registration. Now you just need to join a team'. To take part in the challenge you will need to set up a team (maximum of 10 participants) or join a current team. The deadline to do this is by Friday 16 May, otherwise you will be automatically allocated to a team.

If you’ve been invited to the challenge via an email invite, make sure you register with the same email address that you were sent the invite to.

How to join or create a team

When you log in to your challenge for the first time after registering, the system will ask if you would like to join or create a team. You can search for a team to join or create your own team.

You can create your own team and invite your friends and colleagues to join by sending invites to their email addresses. When creating your own team, please add ‘Derbyshire County Council’ to the team name – don’t use DCC because we don’t want to be confused with other councils like Derby City or Devon County Council. You can create a team that anyone can join or you can set it to invite only.

If you have been told by a colleague about a team name, or you want to search for your department, it’s easy to search for existing teams that you would like to join by typing their name into the box. We have also set up some generic teams that you are welcome to join, these are called Active Wellbeing Team 1, Active Wellbeing Team 2, Active Team 3 etc etc, choose one that has an available space.
