Apprentice scheme launch

27 March 2026

We’re encouraging young people ready to step into the world of work to come and join us as we launch our new Apprenticeship Programme 2026.

From school and college leavers to graduates seeking vocational pathways, our Apprenticeship Programme offers opportunities across the council, from highways, catering, finance and business services to social care and health, combining on-the-job experience with gaining a qualification.

The innovative new programme has been driven by members of our Resources Scrutiny Committee working closely with colleagues from HR.

We’re asking our employees to spread the word and encourage people who might be interested to find out what’s available on our jobs website.

Since 2020 nearly 800 of our employees have successfully completed an apprenticeship and there are currently more than 280 of you completing an apprenticeship, rising to just over 340 including schools.

Find out more on Our Derbyshire where there is more information and a short video made with current apprentices talking about their experiences of the programme.
