Are you doing all you can to protect our data?
30 January 2026
28 January was International Data Privacy Day – a day to empower people and organisations to respect privacy and build trust
This is a good opportunity to think about data protection best practices, the importance of data privacy and the consequences why we don't comply. Here are 3 quick actions you can take:
- Spring clean your files: Under UK GDPR, you must only keep personal data for as long as it is necessary. Check your department’s retention rules.
- Refresh your information governance (IG) training: All colleagues must complete annual IG training. You'll find this course on Derbyshire Learning Online.
- Use data appropriately: Only access systems and information you are authorised to use. Unauthorised access can have serious consequences – a former employee was recently issued with a hefty fine and received a criminal conviction for unauthorised access of personal data on Mosaic.
