Be cyber safe this Christmas
22 December 2022
Cyber criminals don't take a holiday, so the chances of the council or you becoming a victim of a cyber attack can increase.
Malicious cyber actors have often taken advantage of holidays and weekends to attack and disrupt critical networks and systems belonging to organisations and businesses. It is therefore important for everyone to stay extra vigilant at work and in your personal life over the festive break:
- think twice before clicking on links or opening attachments
- whenever you are asked to provide personal information (yours or anyone else's), verify the identity of the requester
- remember to change your passwords regularly and only use strong password combinations
Use Halo self-service portal to promptly report anything that seems suspicious.
The information security section provides lots of useful information about keeping data safe at work. Get Safe Online also provides information about how to protect yourself and your devices and top tips to help keep your data secure.
