Best practice tips for installing Windows 11

28 March 2024

Windows 11 has arrived at Derbyshire County Council and before you get acquainted with the new look and exciting features it needs installing before your laptop device can update to the new version.

When you have received your email from ICT Services to say it's time to update to Windows 11, it will include instructions on how to find and complete the update.

It's a two-part process requiring installation of the update onto your laptop and then a restart. This restart element takes approximately 30-50 minutes to complete.

For business continuity and to avoid any disruption to your work, we're advising you to snooze the restart element when prompted. When you're then ready to finish work for the day, select 'update and restart' from your power options. This will allow you to begin your Windows 11 experience on the next working day.
