Check our accessibility guidelines before producing content for websites
29 July 2022
If you're producing content for our website, including the Our Derbyshire website, please take a few minutes to read through the web accessibility guidelines.
We have a legal duty to make sure our websites meet accessibility requirements which aim to help make sure online public services can be used by as many people as possible. This includes those with impaired vision, motor difficulties, cognitive impairment or learning disabilities and deafness or impaired hearing. People may not have a choice when it comes to using council websites, so it's important they work for everyone.
Common problems often include inaccessible PDF documents that can't be read out on screen readers or poor colour contrast that makes text difficult to read, websites that are not easy to use on a mobile or can't be navigated using a keyboard.
