Climate change: Everybody's business – bespoke training on offer to colleagues

29 March 2023

We started running climate change courses in 2021 as part of our climate strategy.

We started running climate change courses in 2021 as part of our climate strategy. These courses have been very successful and all online sessions are now fully booked. There is one in-person session with places remaining on Monday 19 June from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. To book a place on this please visit Derbyshire Learning Online. The course gives staff the chance to find out what we can do at work and at home reduce our carbon emissions.

Our climate change officer, Tom Veitch, who leads the sessions, is now also offering bespoke sessions on a first come, first served basis to teams who can get a minimum of eight colleagues together. The content would be broadly similar to the previous sessions but could be tailored to link up with the priorities of the team booking the session.

Key content:

  • an understanding of the science of climate change and the likely changes in global and local climates
  • the key actions which need to be taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate
  • knowledge of how you can support the council in reducing emissions and preparing for a changing climate
