Consultation goes ahead for library service proposals

26 July 2024

Our Cabinet has given the go ahead for a public consultation into proposals which, if agreed, will see changes to the way we run our library service.

The proposals are designed to create a modern, agile, family-friendly and sustainable library service for Derbyshire and ensure all our libraries stay open.

Following Cabinet's decision on Thursday, a 12-week public consultation will shortly be launched giving everyone the chance to have their say on the proposals which are aimed at meeting necessary budget savings and reflect changing patterns of library use while ensuring the service remains as accessible, efficient and cost-effective as possible.

The council unveiled the library service proposals in its new draft Derbyshire Public Library Service Strategy 'A Modern Library Service for Derbyshire' last week.

If you have questions or concerns about the draft strategy and proposals you should contact your line manager in the first instance.
