Voting for some district and borough elections takes place on 4 May and counting will be done in each district or borough on the evening of Thursday 4 May or on Friday 5 May 2023.
Available roles range from presiding officers and poll clerks to verification and count assistants, and all roles are paid at the rate set by the relevant district or borough you apply to. You may wish to apply to more than one area, not just the district or borough where you live, so that if you’re not needed in one area, you can work in another.
You will need to use annual or flexi leave if you wish to take on one of the roles during your normal working hours. It is important that you check with your line manager and get approval to apply for the time off before applying for an election role.
Visit the district or borough council website where you’d like to work to find out more about election vacancies and how to apply.
