COVID-19 testing update

24 June 2020

Until now we’ve been able to refer symptomatic employees and their symptomatic household members for COVID-19 testing.

Symptoms include a new continuous cough, a high temperature, a loss of smell or a loss of taste. From 24 June 2020 the employer referral process will cease but employees will still be able to refer themselves and household members for testing if they are symptomatic.

Testing is available at a number of sites including the Toyota site at Derby and the Proact Stadium at Chesterfield by self-referring online through the National Testing Programme for COVID-19 - NHS test and trace.

Testing removes uncertainty for those with symptoms by giving you a positive or negative result, so you know whether or not you need to self–isolate. Testing is particularly important for those who can’t work from home while self-isolating as it impacts on our ability to continue to provide vital services.

It’s important that you continue to let your line manager know if you need to self-isolate in line with the latest guidance for households with confirmed COVID-19 infection. We encourage all employees displaying symptoms to self-refer for testing and please let your manager know the outcome so they can offer you support or arrange your return to work if appropriate.
