We manage a range of critical services, from school admissions to providing specialised care - these services rely on digital systems that store sensitive data.
A cyber attack could disrupt critical services, compromise the data of our service users, and erode public confidence in the council.
This month is a reminder that we need to remain vigilant to the cyber security threats that we face.
These threats can come from a range of sources:
- Malicious emails designed to trick you into revealing sensitive information such as your login details. These emails are known as phishing emails.
- Computer viruses sent via email attachments – it’s extremely important to not interact with emails or open any attachments that you do not recognise or are not expecting to receive.
- Weak passwords used for accounts can be easily compromised by attackers – setting strong passwords helps protect your account.
To find out more, check out our Derbyshire learning pool updated cyber security awareness training on Derbyshire Learning Online. You will need to log into the platform to access the training.
The training goes into more depth on the threats that we face and equips you with important information on what you can do to help keep our data and systems safe from the threats we face.
