Derbyshire delights for celebration of county's Georgian heritage

2 October 2023

The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Partnership and others are providing a series of events and activities to raise the profile of Derbyshire’s contribution to world history during the Georgian era.

The second Georgian Derbyshire Festival runs until Sunday 8 October.

Over 40 themed activities are taking place across the county. Events started in Buxton in September and move across to Cromford Mills this weekend (September 30 and October 1), then Derby (October 7) and Belper (October 8).

Visitors have the opportunity to experience tours, talks and workshops on this year’s themes of ‘People’ and ‘Landscapes’ in some of Derbyshire most iconic venues. It’s a great mix of Georgian era elegance and the natural beauty of Derbyshire’s landscapes – a memorable experience for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Visit the Derwent Valley Mills website to see what’s on during the festival.
