At the heart of the Festival is a celebration of traditional and contemporary woodland crafts but there’s much more on offer. Make a note in your diary if you fancy a great day in a beautiful setting.
Watch the expert craftsmen and women at work, carving and turning wood, willow weaving, bushcraft and furniture making. There’s the chance to have a go at some of these skills yourselves. Plus there’s art, sculpture, a wide range of stalls and acts back by popular demand:
- Viking re-enactment, crafts and combat
- Green Man storytelling and visual theatre
- smoking apples will perform their amazing puppetry with the Arbor Show featuring a giant tree.
There’s plenty of food and drink on offer, unique items to buy and the setting within the grounds and woodland at Elvaston lets visitors explore the formal gardens, lakes and parkland that surround the castle. If you're arriving on foot, bike or by public transport, admission is free. Otherwise there is a car parking charge of £15 per car or £7.50 per motorcycle for the day. There's a £20 weekend ticket available too. Payment is cash only.
