Get protected this winter

13 December 2024

We’re encouraging colleagues who are entitled to the flu and COVID-19 vaccine to get protected this winter.

Whether you work directly with vulnerable people as a frontline social care professional or you are eligible because you are pregnant or have health issues, please consider booking now.

For the COVID-19 vaccine, everyone who is eligible has until Friday 31 January 2025 to book, with free flu vaccines available until Monday 31 March 2025.

Staff eligible for the flu jab have received a letter detailing how they can access them which also includes a list of participating pharmacies. You are encouraged to get your vaccine outside work time to ensure service delivery is maintained. However, where this isn’t possible you can have the vaccine in work time but please discuss this with your manager first.

COVID-19 eligibility

Anyone who is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine has until 19 December to book through the NHS - vaccination system.

After that date only walk-ins are available and you can find a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination site.

Vaccination against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is also being offered for the first time this year to anyone who is 28 or more weeks pregnant, along with people aged 75-79 years and is available all year round.
