Give us your views on the opportunity to level up

8 July 2022

We're working with 3 other councils in the East Midlands to bring decision-making powers out of Westminster and more investment to the region.

The East Midlands has seen years of under-investment, compared to other areas of the country like Greater Manchester, and the opportunity to ‘level up’ has come from the government through their new offer of County Deals.

Nine areas across the country have been chosen to explore the potential of a new agreement with the government with an announcement expected in the Autumn.

Derbyshire has teamed up with Nottinghamshire County Council, Derby City Council and Nottingham City Council to look at the possibility of creating a Mayoral County Combined Authority for the East Midlands.

It could see millions of pounds of new investment come to Derbyshire, making a real difference to people’s lives.

If the proposals are approved by the government the 4 councils will run a formal public consultation over the winter, but we are interested in your thoughts at this stage. Please complete our survey and visit our County Deals information regularly for further updates.
