Helping us to remain competitive in the employment market

21 January 2025

A new working group of councillors will be proposed at the Appointments and Conditions of Service (ACOS) committee meeting on Monday 27 January to help ensure we continue to remain competitive within the employment market to recruit and retain the best employees and reduce the use of agency workers.

If the establishment of the working party is agreed, it will be asked to look at the our pay scales compared to local government and public sector pay benchmarks, affordability of any changes, and terms and conditions, before making recommendations to the ACOS committee on whether any future changes may be beneficial.

The working group will also be considering how any recommendations may support the move to our new target operating model.

Any recommendations that are proposed in relation to salary scales and terms and conditions will need to be affordable and sustainable and be subject to approval within our budget processes.

It is proposed that the working party will report back with its findings to the ACOS committee in June 2025.
