It's Men's Health Week - info and advice about taking care of yourself

15 June 2022

Men’s Health Week aims to raise awareness of preventable health issues and encourage men and boys to seek professional advice for health-related problems.

During Men’s Health Week the Men's Health Forum is encouraging men to take notice of what’s going on in their body and mind by completing a health MOT.

There are also other support services and resources to help male colleagues access information and advice on a wide range of physical and mental health topics.

Our Live Life Better Derbyshire service supports people who want to make healthier lifestyle choices. We recognise that people’s health is influenced by many factors, and our advisors will work with you to help you lose weight, quit smoking or feel fitter. They can also help you access other services for support with problems such as drinking too much.

Men’s Winning Goals is a free 12-week male adult weight management programme followed up by a monthly one-to-one sessions.

We offer all employees a range of physical and mental wellbeing support services including free exercise sessions, access to trained mental health first aiders, an employee counselling service, a 24 hour employee assistance programme and the Thrive wellbeing app.

Screening and vaccinations are an important way of looking after yourself and preventing ill health so make sure you attend appointments when invited.

This includes free contraception and STI self-test kits as well as the Derbyshire-led Stay PrEPared campaign which aims to raise awareness of pre-exposure HIV prophylaxis (PrEP) to prevent HIV infection.
