Kindness matters

18 May 2020

This week we are supporting mental health awareness week and in particular, this year’s theme of ‘kindness’.

Throughout the current coronavirus pandemic we’ve seen communities and colleagues demonstrating huge amounts kindness by supporting each other through this challenging time.

Our Derbyshire Spirit campaign has highlighted lots of the great work many of you are doing from making sure our care home residents can still enjoy VE day celebrations to helping vulnerable residents get the food and equipment they need.

Checking in with friends and colleagues that you haven’t spoken to in a while and showing appreciation to family or team members are other examples of ways that lots of you are staying connected online and showing kindness to each other.

But it’s important to remember that you also need to be kind to yourself.

Now more than ever, people are experiencing emotional ups and downs and it’s okay not to be okay.

Support is available for you if you need it so please visit Our Derbyshire to find out more about our Mental Health First Aiders, employee assistance programme, in-house counselling team and sources of self-help information.
