Thank you to everyone who took the time to take part. We have already submitted our formal response in our role as a statutory consultee.
The government is now considering all the feedback it has received and has said it expects to announce the outcome in June or July. Until that point, no decisions have been made.
What's happening next
While we wait for the government's announcement, work is continuing, and stepping up, across councils to make sure we are ready for any outcome.
All 10 councils in Derby and Derbyshire have agreed how we will work together during this next stage, through a shared Memorandum of Understanding. This sets out a clear and joined‑up approach to collaboration and information‑sharing as preparations continue.
Alongside this, new joint governance arrangements are being put in place to support the transition. These include a small number of service‑focused groups. Their role is to help councils work together, understand how services currently operate, and plan how services can continue to run smoothly during the transition.
In parallel, colleagues across all departments here at the county council are continuing the important groundwork already underway, recording our services, systems, assets and contracts, so we're in the strongest possible position for the next phase.
Staying informed
We'll continue to keep colleagues updated as the process moves forward. In the meantime, the LGR hub remains the best place to find the latest information, key documents and answers to common questions.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement.
