Marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day

We'll be flying the flag for D-Day between 6 and 13 June 2024 at County Hall.

80 years since D-Day

The flag marks 80 years since D-Day on 6 June 1944, the invasion of Normandy by Allied powers, and the start of liberating Western Europe from the Nazis.

Our Civic Chairman Councillor Tony Kemp, and Vice Civic Chairman Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal unveiled the commemorative flag for D-Day earlier this week with children from Castle View Primary School, Matlock. The children were visiting County Hall to learn more about our headquarters and its role in World War II.
