Traditionally, all our printers, scanners and copiers (sometimes called multi-function devices) have been managed by departments, however, going forward they will be managed centrally and placed in appropriate locations so that all colleagues can access them. Rather than owning a device, departments will only be charged for actual use.
When the new system, known as follow me printing, is introduced, you'll no longer need to enter any codes or know the name of the printer you want to use. You'll simply be able to send something to print then go to any printer in any of our offices and use an ID card to retrieve your printing.
From Thursday 2 February 2023, Paul Breslin from SCC (an IT services provider) will be contacting colleagues who are listed as having responsibility for a printer, copier or scanner to confirm its location and ask for a serial number. If you receive an email, please provide all the required information as quickly as possible.
We'll share more information about the introduction of follow me printing over the coming months, however, if you have any questions please contact Steve Harrison, email stephen.harrison@derbyshire.gov.uk or Jon Rogers, email jon.rogers@derbyshire.gov.uk
