My Plan update

9 November 2022

My Plan is the tool that the majority of you will be using to agree an individual work plan with clear objectives, receive useful feedback on performance and identify the support and development you need.

Earlier this year, we asked all managers to use My Plan with their team members so hopefully you’ve all had the opportunity to develop your 2022/23 plan with your manager. We're now at the mid-year point and it is important for you and your manager to review progress of objectives together and consider any adjustments due to changes in circumstance. For example, maybe an objective has been completed so another could be added, or the direction of a goal has been changed and could be amended.

Regular one-to-one conversations – new guidance and template

In addition to your My Plan reviews, we recommend that you have regular one-to-one meetings with your manager. These are an important part of maintaining focus, supporting your wellbeing and reviewing progress towards objectives so we suggest that these take place every month. To help support one-to-one we've introduced guidance and a template to help structure these meetings. The 2-page guidance summarises key points to cover with helpful prompts to support both you and your manager. The one-page template provides a structure to capture the discussion. Those who have supervision meetings as part of their regulatory requirements should continue with these, the one-to-one guidance and templates will also support these meetings.

New manager guidance for development discussions has also been created. This provides structure and tools to support developing individuals through the use of a Personal Development Plan.
