So, with the ongoing challenges, including many people working remotely, it's more important than ever to make time for a conversation with your manager (this will be a virtual meeting for most people) to:
- talk about your achievements and progress to date this year
- plan or revise objectives up to 31 March 2021
- consider any development for the remainder of the year - up to 31 March 2021
What you need to do
Make arrangements to have an interim review conversation with your line manager - view the current My Plan interim review form together with the current My Plan guidance. You might have had regular meetings to discuss your work so far and an interim review is the halfway mark in the performance year.
The important thing is that you have a conversation about your work and progress against objectives, and what you will achieve in the remainder of the year – up to 31 March 2021. The conversation with your line manager is an opportunity to gain constructive feedback on your work and objectives, discuss any development you've undertaken so far, and to support you in planning further development.
The aim is that you leave your meeting having been thanked for your achievement and progression to date. And you should understand what you are being asked to achieve in the second half of the performance year and your manager should support your development as appropriate. This is particularly important in the current climate as priorities can change rapidly to support service needs.
Get booking those meetings and have a great conversation about what you've achieved!
For teams who have regular supervisions or one-to-ones – these can continue as usual.
Review of My Plan process
Some colleagues will be aware that a review of the My Plan process started last year. We've picked this up again recently and we plan to implement a refreshed approach to My Plan from April 2021. This approach will see more emphasis on regular conversations to support high performance across our services.
