National Insurance increase from April 2022

From April 2022 employee National Insurance contributions are increasing by 1.25 percentage points. This will be spent on the NHS, health and social care in the UK.


Taking into consideration the new National Insurance thresholds for the 2022 to 2023 financial year, the following shows the approximate additional monthly payments in National Insurance for a range of annual salaries:

  • £10,000 annual salary - £1 additional monthly contribution
  • £15,000 annual salary - £6 additional monthly contribution
  • £20,000 annual salary - £11 additional monthly contribution
  • £25,000 annual salary - £16 additional monthly contribution
  • £30,000 annual salary - £21 additional monthly contribution
  • £35,000 annual salary - £27 additional monthly contribution
  • £40,000 annual salary - £32 additional monthly contribution
  • £45,000 annual salary - £37 additional monthly contribution
  • £50,000 annual salary - £42 additional monthly contribution
