As part of this a new consultation strategic framework and toolkit are now available to guide you through the process from start to finish with ease if you are tasked with running one.
Many of us at one point or another have been involved in, or could be involved in, running a consultation, and if you’ve never done one before it can seem a bit daunting.
If you’re new to consultation, knowing where to start is key, and the new framework and toolkit have all the information in one place, supporting you to navigate your way through every step and helping you to avoid potential pitfalls, ensure it’s legally safe, communicated to the right audiences and can be evaluated.
Our Corporate Consultation and Engagement Group has worked together on the comprehensive guide, which is accompanied by a new tracker to record all consultation activity and ensure you’re on target to meet deadlines as you go through the process.
By following the guide you will be able to quickly identify the key people you need to involve from the start and ensure your consultation is efficient and effective, and achieves all the desired outcomes.
It will also aid the gathering of information and views which will support strong, evidence-based decision-making.
As a council we’re committed to engaging effectively with Derbyshire residents, service users and stakeholders, and this guide and tracker not only supports those embarking on a consultation to ensure they run smoothly but will ensure a uniform approach is followed across all our services.
If you’re planning or delivering a consultation, please ensure you create a record for it on the consultation tracker as soon as possible.
