New contract management requirements under the Procurement Act 2023

There are some significant changes being introduced by the Procurement Act 2023 that will impact how we manage and monitor some contracts.


These changes are particularly relevant for those who may not be directly involved in procurement but are involved in managing and monitoring contracts.

KPIs and performance monitoring

For some contracts over £5 million, we are now required to set and regularly publish at least three relevant and important key performance indicators (KPIs) and we will possibly be required to publish all KPIs (we are awaiting clarification).

Contract terminations

The act introduces a requirement to publish detailed termination notices even when the contract comes to a natural end, on contracts procured after 24 February 2025.

The procurement team will be contacting contract managers over the next few months to ensure you are ready to comply with these new requirements. In the meantime, you can take a look at this more detailed information:
