Currently serving as the interim, Simon took up his post with immediate effect following a competitive recruitment process.
Simon said:
"I'm delighted to be taking up the role and to continue to lead the department and drive our transformation programme to support residents to live independent lives.
"It's a privilege to be part of such a talented team and while I know many colleagues already, I look forward to getting to meet many more in adult care and public health, as well as across the council, in the coming months."
Simon started his career with us in 2008 as an area manager, becoming assistant director of adult social care in 2014 and then director in 2018. He replaces Helen Jones as executive director who retired earlier this year.
