The library closed on its former site on Hall Lane at the beginning of the month and since then staff have been busy organising the big move, packing and then unpacking huge numbers of books along with computers and other materials and equipment.
The new library is on the ground floor of the Pavilion, and is part of Chesterfield Borough Council’s Staveley 21 project, funded through the Staveley Town Deal. We’ve worked closely on the library element of the project, including finalising detailed designs, with Chesterfield Borough Council.
The funding for the relocation and fitting out of the new library has been provided as part of the overall town centre regeneration project.
While the library opened on Monday, an official opening ceremony will take place on Thursday (23 July) for invited guests and the public.
