Our care staff first in line for COVID-19 vaccine

22 December 2020

Care worker Carolyn Chittim was one of the first in line for the new COVID-19 vaccine at the Royal Derby Hospital last Tuesday.

As a care worker, Carolyn has been supporting adults with a learning disability at our Newhall Day Centre near Swadlincote for 37 years, retiring in June from that job. For the last 11 years, she’s also been a relief residential social care worker at The Bungalow in Swadlincote, which offers respite and life skills for adults with a learning disability and became a COVID-only unit in late September.

Carolyn was one of the first of our carers to receive the vaccine and she says she took it, not just for herself, but for all the elderly and vulnerable people she looks after.
