Performance development mid-year review reminder

12 October 2026

Is your mid-year review in the diary? If not, now is a great time to arrange a date with your line manager before the end of October.

Our Performance Development Review (PDR) process runs throughout the year from April to March.

Your mid-year review provides an opportunity to reflect on your achievements and progress so far, review priorities for the remainder of the year, and identify any support or development you may need.

Mid-year reviews also provide dedicated time to discuss wellbeing, career aspirations and any challenges affecting your work. Taking part helps ensure you receive regular feedback, recognition and guidance, while keeping your goals and development plans on track.

How can I prepare?

To get the most from your mid-year review, please take some time to:

  • review the SMART objectives agreed at the start of the PDR year and reflect on your progress so far
  • consider how you have demonstrated the council's values in your day-to-day work
  • update your Personal Development Plan, including any new learning or development needs
  • record any feedback, achievements or successes you would like to discuss with your manager
  • think about any support, resources or development opportunities that would help you be successful in your role.

Taking a few minutes to prepare beforehand will help you and your manager make the most of the discussion.
