Performance development reviews (PDR)

As we approach the end of this financial year, it is time to schedule the end of year PDR meetings between you and your line manager.


This is an opportunity to reflect on the year and make time to have a quality conversation, reviewing individual performance. During this conversation it will also be important to review development plans which might include progress made on an apprenticeship or application of learning gained from the inspiring leaders programme.

The 2024 launch for leadership apprenticeship applications is planned for April which you may want to discuss as part of the beginning of the year discussions.

Between now and the end of March, all leaders who manage a team will need to hold year-end reviews with each of their team members, too:

  • reflect on the past 12 months
  • review and provide feedback on the performance of everyone, aligned to their objectives and goals. It is important to note, goals can change throughout the year, this should be reflected and updated
  • review how you have used the competencies to deliver on your goals (G14+ and G13 and below in a line management role)
  • discuss development plans, what has been achieved, what were the obstacles and the learning from the year

All year-end reviews need to be complete by 5 April 2024.
