Plans in place to tackle forecast overspend

Colleagues across the council are working hard at every level to help identify in-year savings and are taking immediate action to control spending in a bid to tackle the forecast £46 million overspend.

Council Leader Councillor Barry Lewis is clear that while this is a difficult position for the authority to be in, it is not a bankruptcy situation, and by rising to the challenge we can all make a difference in helping to close the gap in finances for 2023/24 and ensure a balanced budget.
