Positive feedback from our apprentice event

6 April 2023

On 13 March more than 80 of our apprentices joined Managing Director, Emma Alexander, and Interim Director of Organisation Development and Policy, Jen Skila, to celebrate apprenticeships at our first organisation apprentice event at County Hall.

The group heard from Emma about her commitment to apprenticeships as an excellent way of developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours to develop both personally and professionally. Emma also shared her career journey to becoming our Managing Director.

A panel, including Emma and three current apprentices, took questions and offered their own apprenticeship top tips. A big thank you to Jak French, Michelle Cantrill and Lucy Jay for sharing their experience.

All our apprentices then got creative, working within teams to fill a canvas with images and words to show what they particularly enjoyed about their apprenticeship. These canvases will be displayed at County Hall very soon.

Feedback from the event is currently being gathered, with initial feedback being extremely positive. Apprentices were thankful for the opportunity to meet with Emma and other colleagues, to share their experiences, ask questions and start to network within and across departments.

One of our apprentices told us:

“It is great that the council is so committed to investing in our futures”.
