Reminder about fire alarms and evacuation
27 March 2026
Following a recent fire alarm at County Hall, we'd like to remind you that when a fire alarm sounds in any of our buildings – except for regular and pre-arranged alarm tests – all colleagues must leave the building immediately and go to their assembly point.
A small number of colleagues did not evacuate during the last alarm. This poses a significant risk to personal safety and can hinder emergency response procedures.
Please ensure that you:
- stop what you are doing and leave the building immediately when the alarm sounds
- do not return for personal belongings
- go directly to the designated assembly point
- wait for confirmation from the fire wardens or facilities team before re-entering
Thank you for your cooperation – it helps keep everyone safe and ensures we meet our legal and safety obligations.
