Repair café comes to County Hall for our net zero event

8 June 2023

We're welcoming Wirksworth Repair Café to County Hall on Thursday 15 June 2023 as part of our Journey to net zero Derbyshire employee open day.

So do bring along any items for repair to the event to be held in the Members' Room from 11am to 2pm These can be small electrical items such as toasters, hairdryers, lamps, radios and headphones. Clothing, garden tools, bikes, computers, hand tools and small items of furniture can also be considered for repair. Repairs are free of charge, but donations are welcome to support their work.

Our Net Zero event coincides with the national Clean Air Dayand is a drop-in market style event showcasing the wide range of work we're doing to cut carbon, promote sustainability and protect the environment.

Colleagues from the Bus Service Improvement Plan, travel and transport, public health, countryside, adult education, sustainable procurement and waste and recycling and more will share what they are doing. Plus there's the chance for attendees to tell us about what they’re doing and ideas for what more could be done. There'll be displays, demonstrations, short talks, videos, a graffiti wall and more. A competition will ask attendees to make their own pledge about how they are tackling climate change with the chance of winning a weekend ticket for our Woodland Festival, a voucher for a day's electric bike hire at Middleton Top or a thermal picnic backpack and picnic rug.

Colleagues from the Bus Service Improvement Plan will be giving details of employee offers for bus travel and have a competition to win a Derbyshire Wayfarer group bus ticket! (for 2 adults and 3 children). There are 5 day tickets to be won.
