Safer Internet Day

24 January 2020

To mark Safer Internet Day, Our community safety team and the police are running a drop-in session at County Hall to help employees and visitors avoid the cybercrime and stay safe online.

The drop-in session takes place on Wednesday 12 February 2020 in main reception at County Hall from midday to 2pm.

Cybercrime now accounts for a third of all crime recorded nationally - and it’s the one crime that people are more likely to fall victim to.

We’ll have a number of cybercrime and online safety experts on hand to chat to and, if you bring your device along, you can get individual advice to keep it safe and protected from attacks.

There’ll be information on:

  • using the internet safely when you’re on social media or online banking and shopping
  • avoiding online fraud and scams
  • keeping your children and grandchildren safe online
  • protecting your devices from hacking and viruses

If you’re unable to attend the event, there will be a display stand in County Hall reception all week, from 10 to 14 February, or you can get lots of useful tips and information from Safer Derbyshire, including a Digital MOT, which helps to assess your online safety risks.
