The museum and art gallery in Terrace Road closed on Thursday 1 June to prepare for more intensive investigations to be carried out by experts to assess the extent of the issue.
The closure will mean that the annual Derbyshire Open Art Exhibition, which was due to open to the public on Saturday 24 June 2023, has now been cancelled.
While the museum is closed we’re encouraging people to visit the museum online which has a selection of information about collections, virtual exhibitions, a regular blog and even an online shop.
