The first of our electric pool fleet vehicles has arrived

28 February 2020

Those of you visiting or based at County Hall this week may have already spotted the first of our new fleet of electric vehicles parked on the terrace.

Council Leader, Barry Lewis and Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Councillor Tony King with our new electric carsThis is just one of the eight electric cars and three electric bikes that are joining our pool fleet from the beginning of March to help us reduce the amount of CO2 we produce in line with our wider carbon reduction pledges.

The cars are based at County Hall in Matlock since we already have the vehicle charging infrastructure in place and during 2018/19 around 165,000 business miles were claimed by employees for trips that started and finished at County Hall.

If this initial pilot is successful, we hope to introduce more electric vehicles at locations across the county.
The vehicles will be available to book for journeys that take place from 16 March onwards provided you are travelling from County Hall and back.

The electric bikes will be ready to use from May for anyone making a shorter journey.

We’ll be showcasing the cars and bikes at the Tackling Climate Change event on Tuesday 3 March and holding test drive days for employees from Monday 9 March.

Look out for more information next week including how to book a test drive.
