This week is National Apprenticeship Week

8 February 2022

National Apprenticeship Week is an annual celebration of the importance of apprenticeships. We have more than 250 employees doing apprenticeships across a range of different occupational groups.

Apprenticeships can be used to attract and recruit or develop existing employees by building on their skills and knowledge.

Apprenticeships are an exciting option – they offer practical experience alongside a structured training programme delivered by an approved training provider and can be from entry level through to leadership level. Find out more about apprenticeships at Derbyshire.

Changes to apprenticeship request process

A number of changes have been made to improve the speed and ease when making an apprenticeship application:

  • following a career development discussion with your line manager, you can request to undertake an apprenticeship by completing an application form
  • your line manager and grade 15 manager will then be asked to review and approve your application via email - you'll be kept informed at each decision stage
  • we will continue to offer leadership apprenticeships in conjunction with the University of Derby in an annual cohort. Details of when the next cohort will be available will be shared at the appropriate time and the application form will be used for this

We've recently refreshed our apprenticeships at Derbyshire information so you can find out more about both recruiting an apprentice or carrying out an apprenticeship for development.
