Update on the 2024/25 pay award

5 July 2024

In May, the National Employers (which represents local government employers including Derbyshire County Council) made full and final pay offers to all bargaining groups covered by the National Joint Committee for local government service employees

They are as follows:

  • colleagues on grades 1-13 an increase of £1,290 (pro rata for part time employees)
  • colleagues on grades 14-21 an increase of 2.5%
  • an increase of 2.5% on all flat rate allowances which would include payments such as standby and sleep-in.

This was in response to the Joint Trade Union (Unison, GMB and Unite) pay claim of £3,000 or 10%, whichever is greater and 10% for Chief Officers.

Trade Unions are now balloting their members on whether to accept the pay offer, with the final ballot due to close mid-July. We will provide a further update as soon as possible afterwards, once we receive notification of the results.

Once a pay increase is agreed it will be effective from 1 April 2024 and backdated payments will be made to employees.
