Update on the County Hall programme

26 July 2024

In January this year, we updated you on proposals approved by Cabinet to redevelop our headquarters at County Hall in Matlock.

This is a long-term programme of works that includes the Future of County Hall Project and a project to close north block.

The project for the closure of north block has now begun and a project group established to help plan for moving colleagues out of north block into south block. The decommissioning of north block will result in a £0.7million annual budget saving approved by Cabinet as part of the budget savings programme.

Representatives from our different departments are being consulted on plans for spaces in the south block to be re-organised so that we can accommodate colleagues that currently work in north block. This is a complex task, working within the existing structure and layout of the building to try and ensure teams have the space they need.

The timeline and full details of the move are yet to be finalised and the project team will continue to engage with colleagues to make the change run as smoothly as possible.

The initial draft south block floor plans will be available to view during a drop-in session from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday 31 July in room 130. Please feel free to come along and view the plans. You’ll also have the opportunity to feed back any thoughts about the proposed space plans as well as discuss any concerns with the project team.

If you work from County Hall and don’t already receive County Hall News, please sign up for building updates.
