Updated counter fraud strategy now available

7 August 2026

Our counter fraud strategy has been reviewed and refreshed for 2026-27.

Previously known as the anti-fraud and anti-corruption strategy, the document has been renamed to reflect a more proactive approach to preventing, detecting and responding to fraud.

The updated strategy reflects current and emerging fraud risks, new centralised arrangements for reporting suspected fraud to internal audit, and a joint investigation approach with HR and legal services to support timely and coordinated investigations.

Fraud can divert money away from essential services, so colleagues are encouraged to read the strategy and familiarise themselves with how we work to prevent fraud happening and respond when concerns are raised.

If something doesn’t feel right, please report it, however small the concern may seem. Email internal audit at reportfraud@derbyshire.gov.uk or call the team on 01629 533334.
