Warm spaces

4 November 2022

Please spread the word about our £50,000 Warm Spaces Fund, launched to support residents affected by the rising cost of living this winter.

Organisations can apply for grants of up to £1,000 towards the cost of creating a warm refuge for people struggling to heat their homes.

If you know of or work with any voluntary, community or charity organisations that are already running, or are interested in opening a warm space in a community venue, please encourage them to apply.

To qualify for a grant, organisations must pledge to offer a heated space during the winter months, provide seating, may offer refreshments such as a warm drink and a biscuit, and be free of charge. The grant can be used towards running costs, energy bills or providing refreshments and activities.

People visiting warm spaces will also be offered information to help them with cost of living support, as well as advice on looking after their mental health and wellbeing.

Find out more about warm spaces and how to apply for a grant.

Meanwhile, 2 of our own buildings have begun operating as warm spaces – the Record Office on New Street in Matlock and Buxton Museum and Art Gallery on Terrace Road will be open during published office hours.
