We're saying 'YES' to employment and training opportunities for young people

Our Youth Employment Support hub (YES) initiative in Chesterfield has been so successful that it will be continued and extended to offer more face-to-face help and countywide online support.

The Chesterfield hub had a target to help at least 300 young people explore career and training options in its first year. This target was exceeded by over 50% with 484 youngsters benefiting by taking steps towards employment, apprenticeships, volunteering or other training. They were also given health and wellbeing support if needed.

This success has led us to set up a second hub in Ilkeston at the Cotmanhay and Ilkeston Adult Community Education Centre. Young people can and drop in or arrange an appointment Monday to Wednesday or make an appointment at Ilkeston library on Thursdays. The support can also be accessed online.
