World Suicide Prevention Day - let's start the conversation

6 September 2024

Tuesday 10 September 2024 is World Suicide Prevention Day and this year's theme is 'Changing the Narrative' and is all about starting a conversation around mental health and wellbeing.

To support the cause, on Saturday 7 September 2024 at Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens from 10am to 3pm, our mental health and suicide prevention team will be joined by more than 30 partners to provide information and support around suicide prevention. There will also be arts and crafts, activities for all ages, and live music throughout the day.

And we'll be working with volunteers to hand out suicide prevention and mental health information leaflets to fans at football matches including at Derby County and Chesterfield FC until early October.

If you would like to learn more about how to support people in crisis, we offer free training courses and Joined Up Care Derbyshire is also running a suicide awareness and prevention training session on 10 September 2024.

To get support around mental health, suicide prevention and other emotional health and wellbeing issues, you can call the Derbyshire mental health support line telephone: 0800 028 0077 or find support online.
