You are not alone

20 May 2020

We’re backing the government’s ‘you are not alone’ campaign to raise awareness of the reporting and support systems available to anyone experiencing domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse could be between adults who are or have been in a relationship, or between family members. It can be psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional abuse. It’s rarely a one-off incident, but a pattern of power and control.

If you’re worried you or someone you know is suffering from domestic abuse, please be reassured that even in lockdown, there is support available for you around the clock. Please seek help if you need it and if you or anyone you know is in immediate danger call 999 and ask for the police.

email or call the Derbyshire Domestic Abuse Helpline on tel: 08000 198 668.

Anyone who is deaf or hard of hearing can text: 07534 617252.

There is no excuse for abuse. If you are worried about the impact of your own behaviour on others, you can call the anonymous and confidential Respect phoneline on tel: 0808 802 4040. This helpline is also open to friends, family, community members and professionals who are concerned about someone they know.

More information is available from the National Domestic Abuse Helpline and Safer Derbyshire along with further advice about staying safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.
